Book Review~ Checkmate: This is Dangerous by Kennedy Fox

review-aCheckmate this is dangerous

Rating: 4.5 Stars

Checkmate: This is Dangerous by Kennedy Fox is out today. This is the first book in the new Checkmate duet series. (Technically it’s book 5 in the series, with book 6 -the companion to this story, coming out in September.)

I received an advanced readers copy for the purpose of writing an honest review. I should note that I am a fan of Kennedy Fox’s and that I have read ever books so fa in this series. So I was familiar with the characters and the writing style.

This book is about Logan and Kayla. These two have been fighting their attraction to each other for some time. Logan is a detective but also a single father of a 6 yr old little girl who he shares custody with. His daughter Skylar is his life, but can he make room for Kayla? Kayla has a horrible childhood, losing both her parents and growing up in foster care. She is such a giver. She has three dogs, volunteers at the shelter and the soup kitchen and a nursing home while working a full time job as an interior designer. She is a Mother Teresa type person, and Logan doesn’t think he should mess around with her. Ultimately, Kayla waits for Logan to decide he can’t deny himself Kayla any longer. From that point they are both all in, until tragedy strikes.
This is a sweet, romantic story of two people finding their way towards each other no matter thee persons history. Just as soon as the characters start to get their happily ever after the other show drops, leaving us emotionally wrecked and hanging on by a thread while we wait for Septembers release of Checkmate: This is Beautiful.

*Warning: This book does leave you in a book hangover with the cliffhanger ending.*

This story is now Live and available everywhere.
